Digital full-service agency shows just what it can do at international competition for communication design
Cologne, 12 July 2010 – Prize-winning design and technology. Berker and LBi Germany have won the prestigious iF Communication Design Award for their creation of an innovative, cutting-edge interface which gives people full control over the intelligent house of the future via a simple touchscreen. In the Product Interfaces category, the world's leading full-service agency for digital communication and technology impressed the international jury, composed of design experts, and won out over stiff competition.
"Bring the best minds together, and the best ideas
are the result!“
Working together with the Fraunhofer Institute and our partner agency MetaDesign, LBi Germany created a masterpiece in communication design in the form of this interface. "Simple, reliable and highly enjoyable to use" - this is how the user interface of the Comfort Center 9 has been described. The brief from Berker, a specialist switch company based in Schalksmühle in North Rhine-Westphalia, was to create an interface which facilitates intuitive control of the intelligent house of the future by touchscreen. The result was truly remarkable, and it not only impressed the project's participants, but it also won over the internationally respected jury. What we came up with was an application with capacitive touch technology, familiar to Apple iPhone users, with a sleek, streamlined and intuitive design, and which delivers excellent home control.
Harald Börsch, head of marketing at Berker said, "We are delighted to win 2010's iF Communication Design Award with LBi German. This excellent project once again shines a light on the agency's outstanding work in the field of technology. We would particularly like to praise LBi's outstanding feel for appealing, compelling design."
Anke Herbener, CEO of LBi Germany, said, "For our team, winning prizes for ambitious projects is a great source of inspiration. Developing and implementing this highly complex and innovative project for our customer, Berker, was something we really enjoyed, and we are now absolutely thrilled that an independent jury has acknowledged the quality of our work.“
